Not Your Usual Fall Post

The weather here has been simply gorgeous this Fall. Well, barring the Nor'easter we had last weekend that could literally blow your car right off the road. Today it was particularly nice and sunny. Since Elijah is learning all about plants and trees in Science we decided to take a walk to collect some leaves. For the first time ever, I put Sophia in her Ergo carrier, we hadn't been using it because of her hip problems. Needless to say, it was wonderful, we'll definitely be using it again soon. It was so nice to have both my hands free and not have to worry about the terrain being stroller-friendly. For this reason we ended up walking to the beach and taking a stroll down by the water.
The three of us, Sophia smushed in the middle.

Too big for a walking stick!

After walking out on the rocks we headed up to the little park area next to the beach to collect some leaves. Elijah was in search of walking stick, which he eventually found and insisted on taking it home, along with a dozen or so leaves, a cool looking seed pod and a pine cone. (See, this is why I need my hands free!). He also spotted a fountain at the park and asked for four pennies to make four wishes. One for each of us. For himself he wished for a walking stick (this was before he found his). For Sophia a doll, for Daddy an astronomy book and for me a new pair of shoes. I guess he knows us all pretty well!

We liked this tree with double trunks.

Sophia seemed pretty happy in her carrier, since she dozed off after a half hour. It even comes with a hood to pull over her head to keep the sun out of her face. Anyway, we definitely enjoyed the walk and I'm looking forward to more Fall activities in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for pumpkin patch pictures! (We're hopefully going on Saturday!
