Second Week, Second Grade

Everyone keeps asking me how second grade is going so far, and I only have one answer, "It's so much work!" I didn't realize, and neither did Elijah, just how much our work load was going to increase this year. Not to mention, the actual work itself is so much harder. Our first week in Science we did life cycles of plants and animals. This week we're on the water cycle. In History we're studying Ancient India, China and now Greece. Math is still mostly review at this point, as is Latin. Oh and Geography, we're learning state capitals and how to read maps, charts and graphs. Oy!

Sophia has been doing okay with the transition so far. Whenever Elijah's doing busy work I try to do something with her. So far she's learned a few colors, mostly "PINK!", her favorite. She can now recognize the letter A, and she can count to two! Not bad for a two year-old!

Anyway, here are a few pics of what we've been up to, then I've got to run and teach History!

After starting Ancient History last week, Elijah became very interest in cuneiform writing. So we  picked up some clay to give it a try!

The top one is Matthew's, the tiny one is mine, and the bottom one is Elijah's.

First Math test of the year. Again, it was mostly review, so he did great and made a 98%!
