The Met

Taking advantage of our second to last weekend before Matthew's school year starts, we decided to make another trip to NYC this past Sunday. The last time we went was when Matthew's parents were here at the end of March, so it's been awhile. I was so excited to get to go without being pregnant, and to get to take Sophia!

We decided to hit one of the places on our must-see list of NYC, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met). Turns out that was a really good choice, since Sunday morning dawned rainy and overcast. So, we packed the umbrellas and the kiddos and headed out bright and early to catch the train.

When we arrived it was only lightly sprinkling, and after a short subway ride, we only had to walk a few blocks to 5th Ave where most of the museums are.

As you can see from the facade, it's quite a large and impressive building. We knew there was no way we'd get to see everything we wanted, especially with two kids. But we took a look at the provided map and started off. First, we headed to the area Matthew was most excited about: Greek and Roman Art. There were lots of really interesting things there.

And he really liked this fancy "bathtub". It was really a sarcophagus for some rich Roman dude.

After some lunch, we strolled through Medieval Art, European Sculpture, Arms and Armor before finishing up with Egyptian Art. We have tons of pictures of everything, but I couldn't even begin to post them all!

Though we spent a good part of the day there, we still only managed to cover the first floor. So I guess we'll be planning another trip back to visit the second floor!
